Arts and Rights: Discovering the First 'Human Rights Week' and the Historic Event 'Voices for Freedom'

The first edition of the "Human Rights Week," a grand multidisciplinary festival that combines art, culture, and social engagement, is about to begin. From July 17 to 23, 2023, Rovigo will become the capital of art and culture for human rights, with a preview event in Adria on July 15. Over 60 events are planned, all free of charge, across 6 different venues, with the participation of more than 40 local associations and organizations.

The focal point of the entire festival will be the 26th edition of "Voices for Freedom - A Song for Amnesty," a three-day music and human rights event in support of Amnesty International Italy.

During the week, Rovigo will host high-profile guests, including Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, Alba Bonetti, Manuel Agnelli, Banda Rulli Frulli, Moni Ovadia, Lisa Clark, and many other protagonists from the world of art, culture, and volunteering. Themes such as music, debates, literature, sports, workshops, exhibitions, and artistic, theatrical, and cinematic performances will be addressed. The guiding theme of the event is "D(i)ritti al futuro," promoting a universal culture of human rights through various artistic forms.

The festival, endorsed and supported by the Municipalities of Rovigo and Adria, is the result of collaboration between local associations and organizations and is dedicated to the promotion of human rights, culture, and art. There will be exhibitions, workshops, debates, artistic performances, and much more. In addition to the main activities, events are also planned in the outskirts of Rovigo, including movie nights, concerts, and an open-to-all football tournament.

The highlight of the festival will be the twenty-sixth edition of "Voices for Freedom - A Song for Amnesty," featuring three days of music and human rights. Furthermore, eight emerging artists from different parts of Italy will perform in the final of the Amnesty International Award in the Emerging Artists section.
